COSA and the Child Development and Family Guidance Center
COSA services are for substance abusing pregnant & parenting
women whose infants and preschool children may experience
developmental delays.
COSA places a special emphasis on serving minority women and their children in Pinellas County.
Therapeutic Development Services Include:

Physical and Occupational Therapy
Speech Therapy
The center’s CDA Certified Preschool Staff work hand-in-hand with
women to enhance relationships and demonstrating bonding techniques in
a safe nurturing environment.
COSA’S HIV/AIDS Expansion Services:
HIV/AIDS Testing in partnership with Johnnie Ruth Clark and the Pinellas County Health Department (PCHD)
Pre and Post Test Counseling
Counseling for Women and Children who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS Prevention Education
Linkage to Medical Services
Day Treatment & Outpatient Services for Women Include:

Drug Education & Testing
Case Management, Aftercare & Relapse Prevention
Urine Drug Screens
Comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment
Parenting Education
Recreational Therapy
Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Monitoring
Mental Health Counseling
Self-Esteem and Anger Management
Life Skills Training and Stress Management
Computer Training
Transportation
Domestic Violence Groups in partnership with the Center Against
Spouse Abuse (CASA)
Sexual Abuse Groups in partnership with SAFE Centers and administered by Family Service Centers
Referrals are voluntary or coordinated with local health departments,
pediatricians, child protective service organizations, probation and
parole, faith-based organizations, drug court, and through PAR’s
Treatment programs.

Operation PAR’s goal at COSA is to help women live safe and drug free
lives. PAR assists women in moving from public aid gainful employment
and educates each woman on strengthening their families for
reunification. Women regain their self-esteem while developing new
friendships with other women and working toward their goals. We
strive to help women make changes in their behavior to reduce the
transmission of HIV/AIDS and other transmittable diseases. Our main
goal is to solidify their roles as unique individuals in an ever
changing community.
Operation PAR touches one person, one family, one community at a time.
We join the community in its efforts to assist families in saving
their children from the destruction caused by drugs and alcohol and
mental health disorders.
Operation PAR, Inc. has cared for families and their children since
1970. Operation PAR was founded through personal experience, so we
understand the pain that families endure when their children are
affected by substance abuse.
