I just read that more and more senior citizens who live on social
security were facing the dilemma of resorting to eating dog food so
they would have enough money left over to pay the rent after purchasing
the medications they need which Medicare won’t cover. Well no one could
say that this administration didn’t feel their pain. They quickly
responded with the much ballyhooed “Drug Plan”. To say that it turned
into the proverbial “goat rope” would be an understatement. Terms such
as ‘confusing’, ‘bureaucratic’, and ‘pure nonsense’ don’t adequately do
it justice...

The papers here in Florida are filled with stories about 14 year old Martin Lee Anderson. He was the young man who died following a brutal beating in the Bay Area Boot Camp. Evidently the incident was videotaped so the old Florida State Prison excuse given for the death of Frank Valdez “that he fell out of his bunk” won’t fly here.

Perhaps you saw the article about detectives in Spotsylvania County, Virginia who in attempt to bust prostitutes posing as masseuses allowed the women to perform sexual acts on them and one even left a $350 tip. Wow that must have been some massage!

Stop the presses! Oooops…I apologize for the error but when I read the article in the press of how Florida Gubernatorial Candidate, Tom Gallagher, told a group of pastors about his spiritual shift I thought sure he was announcing he was going to become a man of the cloth... |

The President’s new drug plan has proven to be the equivalent of a direct hit by Hurricane Katrina for the poor and elderly.
Among some of the problems encountered:
- No electronic record of enrollment in a Medicare drug plan
- Pharmacies charging cost sharing above $1 for a generic drug and $3 for a brand name drug
- Attempts to impose deductibles
- Prescriptions being denied because of exclusion from a plan's formulary
- Prescriptions being denied because of "prior authorization" and "step therapy" requirements
Hardest hit are those who face the prospect of premature death as a result of being denied their drugs
The administration had two years to prepare for this plan, but they have failed miserably.
Recently a friend criticized my support of a national health plan. "How
can you trust the government? I’d rather trust private industry with
my life," he said. Well by now it should be clear to all that this
program is an example of half baked tampering with the system. It is
also a compelling argument of universal health care. The only people
arguing against it are those with vested interests or can afford to pay
for top shelf treatment.
Better yet join many others like yourself who think we should have
Universal Health Care now at Congressman John Conyers Jr's website at http://www.house.gov/conyers/news_health_care.htm
