Judge slammed for molester's 60-day sentence PDF  | Print |  E-mail

A Burlington Vermont Judge, Edward Cashman, caught “bloody hell” after he sentenced a mentally challenged child molester to only 60 days in prison.

Judge Cashman chose the light sentence so that the 34 year old defendant, Mark Hulett, could receive sex offender treatment, which isn’t available in prison. The judge stated that “the defendant was likely to engage in future crime unless he has proper and timely treatment." And, he ordered Hulett to  undergo treatment and remain under state supervision. If Hulett fails to abide by the terms, he could be sent back to prison for up to 10 years for aggravated sexual assault.  The judge also has added the threat of a potential life sentence to see that he complies...

Early Sunday morning Christopher Penley was pronounced dead. The fifteen year old was shot at his school on Friday by deputies while holding a pellet gun. Family and friends were quoted as saying he was emotionally troubled, was bullied at his school, and had even run away from home on numerous occasions...

I’m sure many of you have had the same misfortune as I to have repeal seen the video of young men beating a homeless person to death with baseball bats on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Fort Lauderdale. Two of the assailants are now in custody and a third has been identified and has fled the state. What, may you ask, caused these three young men to do such a thing?

Daniel Ray Warren may not have been a “prince among men”.  After all he was sentenced to serve 37 months in Florida’s Department of corrections for Aggravated battery.  But from all indications during the past seven days at the Hernando Count Jail he may have endured several beatings and a sexual assault which led up in his apparent suicide...
